Pep ’n Zest Garlic Butter Prawns & Rice
Serves: 4Prep: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20–25 minutes Buttery, garlicky prawns with a bright lemon-pepper kick, served over fluffy rice and finished with fresh parsley and lemon. Quick, easy and packed with flavour.
Ingredients
- 500 g large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp BlixSam Pep ’n Zest (Lemon Pepper)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp butter
- 4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Zest of ½ lemon
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 2 spring onions, finely sliced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, only if needed
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Extra Pep ’n Zest, for finishing
Method
- Pat the prawns dry. Toss with 1 tbsp Pep ’n Zest and 1 tbsp olive oil.
- Heat the remaining olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the prawns in a single layer and cook for about 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and just cooked through. Remove from the pan.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the remaining 1 tbsp Pep ’n Zest, lemon zest and lemon juice. Stir into the melted garlic butter.
- Return the prawns to the pan and toss for 30–60 seconds until beautifully coated.
- Divide the hot cooked rice between bowls or plates and spoon the garlic-butter prawns and pan juices over the top.
- Finish with spring onions, parsley and a light sprinkle of Pep ’n Zest.
- Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.
💛 BlixSam Tip
Don’t overcook the prawns — as soon as they turn pink and opaque, they’re ready. Spoon all that Pep ’n Zest garlic butter over the rice so none of the flavour goes to waste. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, but lekker enough for entertaining too. 🛒🍴
