BrĂȘckie Loaded Slap Chips
Featuring BlixSam BrĂȘckie Spice Hot, golden slap chips tossed generously in BrĂȘckie Spice, smothered in creamy cheese sauce and loaded with crispy bacon and a runny fried egg. Proper South African comfort food! Prep Time: 15 minutesCook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients
BrĂȘckie Slap Chips- 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into thick chips
- Oil, for frying
- 2â3 tsp BlixSam BrĂȘckie Spice
- 200 g streaky bacon, chopped
- 4 eggs
- 2 spring onions, finely sliced
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp cake flour
- 300 ml milk
- 150 g mature cheddar cheese, grated
- œ tsp BlixSam BrĂȘckie Spice
- Freshly ground black pepper
Method
- Fry the chips until cooked through, golden on the outside and soft and fluffy inside.
- Drain well and immediately toss the hot chips with 2â3 tsp BlixSam BrĂȘckie Spice.
- Fry the bacon until crispy and set aside.
- For the cheese sauce, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and simmer until slightly thickened.
- Add the cheddar and œ tsp BrĂȘckie Spice, stirring until melted, creamy and smooth.
- Fry the eggs, keeping the yolks slightly runny.
- Pile the hot BrĂȘckie slap chips onto a large serving plate or individual bowls.
- Pour the warm cheese sauce generously over the chips.
- Scatter over the crispy bacon.
- Top with the fried eggs and finish with spring onions, parsley and a light extra sprinkle of BrĂȘckie Spice.
